Team 1885, ILITE Robotics from
Haymarket, Virginia. Made up of students
from high schools across
Prince William County, Virginia, we are
Inspiring Leaders in Technology and Engineering,
while competing in
FIRST Robotics. We have served as a stand out team with the primary goal of instilling young
persons with the skills and passion to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math...
Team 1885, ILITE Robotics is not only about building robot. We are actively involved in the
Haymarket community. Because of this Haymarket has become known as a "Robotics Town."
We help host an annual Fall Festival where we invite all members of our community to come drive our robots. We also have some
of our other
off-season activities, such as FIRST Forward and our FIRST Campaign.
All of this is done to make sure our community is aware of our passion for STEM Education.
This year
ILITE Robotics put an incredible amount of work into designing our robot in CAD. This effort
is to ensure that fewer
sparks fly during the build season. With all of this work we have a section of our site devoted to our
CAD Blog where we showcase the evolution of our 2012 robot.
Would you pledge to support FIRST and ILITE Robotics? We certainly hope you would. In an effort
to spread our message we have come up with our
FIRST Campaign where we invite supporters to
sign a card stating that they support
ILITE Robotics. Started in 2011, ILITE has already collected over
4,000 signatures of persons who "support FIRST Team 1885, ILITE Robotics."
For two years running
ILITE Robotics has hosted the
Haymarket FLL Regional Competition. This year we hosted 48 teams in one day. Making our regional the largest
one-day regional in the country. The stands were packed with future engineers!
We cannot wait to host our third FLL Regional next year!
Who can go a whole year without an FRC competition? We certainly can't. This year we hosted
IROC, the
ILITE Robotics Offseason Challenge. The first ever off-season event to take place in the
Northern Virginia area. What's even more impressive is that we hosted
IROC just two weeks before we hosted our
FLL Regional Competition.
We're proud to say that IROC was an overwhelming success and we look forward to hosting it again next year!
This year's
FIRST Robotics Championship (FRC) game is called
Rebound Rumble! Hence the flying basketball. Like all FRC games there are plenty of
rules to learn, but the basics are simple. Teams compete to score as many basketballs into their
hoops as they can during a 2 minute and 15 second match. The higher the hoop in which the basketball is scored, the more points the alliance receives.
